The Civic Thought and Leadership Initiative (CTLI) is funded by the Utah legislature and located in UVU's Center for Constitutional Studies (CCS). The purpose of CTLI is to develop the next generation of citizens and civic leaders by cultivating the knowledge, skills, dispositions, and virtues necessary for a just, free, and flourishing constitutional republic. We do this through mentoring UVU students, supporting K-12 teachers, conducting research, and fostering civil political discourse. To further these efforts, the Civics Survey Analyst will lead the development, execution, and analysis of a national and state-level, multi-decade research initiative called the "Constitutional Resiliency Project." This will include cross-sectional surveys evaluating civic and constitutional knowledge and dispositions of Utah adults, parents, college students, and K-12 students. The Analyst will also collaborate with national and civic institutions to develop and execute national and state-level surveys in addition to Utah. The Analyst will analyze, interpret, and visually represent findings in reports and, in collaboration with other CCS researchers, present these findings to the public. In addition to working for the CTLI Team, the Analyst may also work with external clients on civics-related research as arranged by CTLI. The Analyst will report to the director of CTLI and the senior director of CCS. * Develop and execute survey research projects related to the work of CCS. This initially comprehends research projects undertaken as part of the CTLI team, but may also include projects undertaken with other units within UVU and for external partners or clients as arranged by CCS. All work performed for partners and clients outside CCS will be at the direction and under the supervision of the CTLI Director and CCS Senior Director. * Analyze, interpret, and visually represent findings in reports. Collaborate with other CCS researchers and external partners or clients to present findings to the public. This may include written reports, presentations, press releases, interviews, social media posts, and other written and oral communication of findings. Analysis and interpretation of data include the following: • Apply descriptive statistical techniques to summarize survey data. • Conduct inferential statistical analyses to draw conclusions about the population. • Use advanced statistical methods (e.g., regression, factor, and/or cluster analysis) for deeper insights. • Perform trend analysis to identify changes over time. • Interpret statistical results in the context of the research question. • Create visualizations (charts, graphs, tables) to present data findings clearly. • Write comprehensive reports summarizing methodology, analysis, and findings. * Collaborate with external partners to advance civics research nationally and sustain CCS's leadership in civics research. This includes coordinating with our peer centers of civic thought at other institutions of higher education and other mission-aligned organizations, attending relevant meetings and conferences, and participating in efforts to coordinate national civics surveys and secure the implementation of comparable surveys in other states. * Maintain and curate data from past and future CCS and CTLI survey research projects. Consult with CCS director of engagement to make data available via CCS's website and other appropriate repositories. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
