Lanier Technical College - (www.laniertech.edu) is gearing up for increased student enrollment for Fall Semester (beginning August 12th). Therefore, we are conducting a search now for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA-exempt position. NOTE: A background check is part of the selection process. POSITION: ADJUNCT ENGLISH INSTRUCTOR - Different Campus Locations Available REPORTS TO: General Education Program Chair SALARY: Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours TARGET START DATES: FALL SEMESTER - AUGUST 12TH, 2024 RESPONSIBILITIES: Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned: * Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus. Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives; * Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught; * Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives; * Administers and grades class examinations; * Maintains records of student grades; * Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed; * Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas; * Meets ALL required deadlines assigned by Supervisor; * Meets with students, staff members, supervisors as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 18 graduate semester hours in English. COMPETENCIES: Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials Knowledge of vocational area of assignment Skill in presenting subject matter Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners Oral and written communication skills Knowledge of student information systems PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies): Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level; Experience with online teaching platforms This position is available at all Lanier Tech campus locations; day and evening classes available.
