Plant Operator A,B,C's are responsible for proper water treatment facility operation.  Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City's Utility. THIS POSITION REQUIRES SHIFT WORK, SCHEDULED/UNSCHEDULED OVERTIME, INCLUDING EVENINGS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS AND/OR IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO EMERGENCY CONDITIONS. The starting rate for the levels are as follows: Plant Operator C $24.11  Plant Operator B $25.31 Plant Operator A $26.58 The following duties are illustrative for this position.  The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.  Other duties may be required and assigned.   * Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie and Utility Systems Department at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations. * Operate and maintain complex advanced treatment facilities with automatic control and telemetry systems. * Operate and maintain pumps, equipment and mechanical/automatic controls to maintain proper treatment and distribution pressures. * Check treatment facilities routinely for proper operation and record daily meter readings.  * Check, read and change charts.  * Perform flushing (distribution). * Take water samples for chemical, bacterial and chlorine and water quality tests. * Perform well checks. * Regular and punctual attendance. * Prepare daily and monthly reports, itemizing water pumped and electricity used. * Prepare daily and monthly reports for submittal to regulatory agencies. * Maintain controls, meters and related equipment.  * Check complaints of malfunctions or low pressure. * Perform general housekeeping. * Perform data entry. * Check remote pump stations and interconnects. * Perform scheduled operational duties. * Other duties may be assigned. Education and/or Experience: High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, supplemented by courses in biology and chemistry. * Class A: minimum five (5) years' experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants. * Class B: minimum three (3) years' experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants. * Class C: minimum of one (1) year experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Plant Operator A,B,C- Possession of a valid Class A, B, OR C, Water Treatment Plant Operator's License as issued by the State of Florida.
