Position Purpose: Responsible for writing and editing new content for teachers and students along with providing editorial support to the Content Development Department in a variety of capacities, with a particular focus on English Language Development. Duties and Responsibilities: * Assist with new supplemental and ancillary product development, with a focus on ELD materials * Review and help shape new manuscripts, input edits, and help oversee content development process, both print and digital, from manuscript through manufactured product, for teachers, students and families * Help track and oversee work from outside writers and vendors * Help track and oversee contracts and invoicing for outside writers, vendors and subject-matter experts/reviewers * Help track, oversee and implement content and subject-matter experts' reviews of content throughout phases of development * Conduct research as directed * Learn and implement research-informed pedagogy, standards and expectations for literacy instruction * Assist in creating and maintain correlations (to state and national standards, core company products, and BEC's competition) and other tracking charts * Update and help maintain product data management and tagging schema * Aid in the QA of new digital products Job Requirements/Skills and Experience: * B.A. in English, education, or a related field (M.A. a real plus) * Superior writing, editing and project management skills * Current knowledge of language, literacy and educational standards, expectations and requirements * Intermediate-Advanced proficiency, MS Office * Basic proficiency, Adobe Creative Suite is preferred * Comfortable juggling several projects concurrently * Able to work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., design and marketing) * Excellent communication and organizational skills * Teaching experience is a plus About Us Benchmark Education Company is a leading publisher of core, supplemental, and intervention literacy and language resources in English and Spanish, both print and digital, as well as world-class professional development.
