Must be able to rig pipe into position, read blueprints, lay out, prep for weld, and fit attachments. (valves, flanges, tees, 90's, 45's and offsets per drawing, ISO, and P&ID's) Pipefitter Job Responsibilities: * Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required. * Identify all tools required for tasks. * Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks. * Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications. * Install valves, hangers, supports, flanges inside piping system according to plans and applicable specifications. * Perform test to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems. * Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment. * Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to job specifications. * Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions. * Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers. * Cuts pipe using reciprocating saw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine, and/or other small hand tools. * Threads pipe using threading machine. * Mounts pipe hangers and brackets. * Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings. * Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools. * Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures * Performs other duties as required. Pipefitter Qualifications / Skills: * Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety * Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers * Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines * Ability to calculate take-outs Experience and Requirements: * 4 years experience Pipefitting on heavy industrial projects is preferred * NCCER Pipefitting Certification is a plus * Steel toed boots * Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check Key Markets: * Pulp and Paper * Mining * Power * Petro-Chem * Heavy Industrial The above description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job.
