Clarification from the agency This is a summer internship for full time Juris Doctorate (JD) students after completion of their 2nd year of Law school, and evening Juris Doctorate (JD) students after completion of their 3rd year of Law school. The Office of General Counsel (OGC) will not recruit students who have not completed their 1st year of Law school coursework as evidenced by a transcript (official or unofficial). Help Duties The candidate selected for this position will: * Analyze legal issues, identify applicable legal sources, and determine the need for additional acts or investigations. * Review policies, procedures, regulations, and directives regarding programmatic and administrative matters of the Corporation. * Engage in research of pertinent laws, legal opinions, and precedents for cases and other legal matters. * Investigate facts, research issues, and draft memoranda on sensitive matters, outlining cases and explaining the application of legal principles, recommendations, and conclusions. * Work with senior attorneys in conducting investigations of alleged violations of laws, regulations, or policies in anticipation of litigation. * Participate in preparing cases for litigation such as drafting of motions, memoranda, briefs and other pleadings stating the facts, analyzing the legal issues, identifying policy concerns, and making recommendations for justifying legal action. * Assist with discovery by analyzing and preparing requests for the production of documents and interrogatories and responses. Pathways Program Requirements: You must meet all Pathways requirements. Graduate students must have a most recent semester and cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or its equivalent. You must be in good academic standing (you must not be on academic probation). You must remain enrolled at least half-time to continue to be eligible for the Pathways Internship Program. Qualifications In addition to the Key Requirements above, you must also currently have and maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or its equivalent. You must meet at least two (2) of the eight (8) minimum qualification criteria. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
