Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Safety Training Officer, Risk Management Services, Administrative Services [R0143627] ROLE of the POSITION * Attend meetings with staff from the various colleges, schools and departments to determine training needs. * Prepare course descriptions, develop and present in-person training classes and provide access to on-line training. * Develop and update online training courses. * Analyze training results and review course critiques to identify areas of improvement. * Select and monitor results from contracted trainers. * Establish goals and objectives for the Training Section within the Occupational Safety and Health unit and report results. * Look for ways to improve and elevate safety training at UNLV consistent with Top Tier educational initiatives. * Submit purchase requests for supplies and services to maintain training capability. * Attend training courses to acquire/retain certifications that are required as authorized trainers of specified courses. * Supervise the work of the Safety Training Specialist and oversee the safety training and equipment certifications that are presented at UNLV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of practical experience in developing lesson plans and conducting in person safety training and 3-5 years of supervisory experience. * Training, evaluating classes and building training materials. * Experience operating computers, software and other electronic devices related to training. * Know how to acquire and analyze data to improve training courses and provide support to users. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 5-7 years of supervisory experience. 5 - 7 years of experience. Knowledge of: * Fundamental knowledge of presentation techniques including the use of audio/visual projection equipment during training courses, and how to deliver effective training. * OSHA standards, NFPA requirements, NRS and NAC codes and requirements. * Authorized OSHA 500 and 501 outreach trainer. * Credentialed as an equipment trainer for forklifts and mobile elevated work platforms. * Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
