JOB SUMMARY We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Retail & Inventory Manager to oversee our store and inventory operations and ensure seamless management of our retail team, inventory, and in-store guest experience. If you are a data driven team leader, a strong manager with the ability to build and implement systems, we want you to be a part of our team. The incumbent leads by example by providing strategic and detailed inventory systems and implements disciplined retail and warehouse processes. Under general direction, the Retail and Inventory Manager manages retail store and photo store locations, warehouse and stockroom facilities. Inventory control is a key component of the role; responsible for forecasting, buying, receiving, transferring and storing merchandise. The Retail & Inventory Manager ensures that all product is entered into the Inventory database inventory system and moved physically and virtually accurately. Manages and supports front of house and back of house Assistant Managers to oversee staff training, scheduling, maintain store and guest services standards, merchandising strategy, inventory strategy, support for retail and warehouse supervisors. Completes annual inventory counts and oversees loss prevention procedures. Hires, trains, and motivates staff to provide accurate, timely inventory movement with friendly, and exceptional service to employees and guests. UNIQUE JOB REQUIREMENTS The candidate must have BOTH Inventory Control and Retail Store Management experience. This is a unique opportunity to join the Boardwalk's great Operations team as the leader in an emerging department. Must provide ability to develop, disseminate and manage new inventory systems and sales strategies. Be present in our stores and accessible to staff, show up to work as scheduled and remain focused and be prepared, ready to help. Prepare the warehouse team and department for large summer retail sales events. Prove your ability to plan and execute for seasonality. Must be able to work flexible shifts 7 days per week, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Schedule may vary depending on season. Will carry a radio. Must be highly organized with strong attention to details. Must maintain confidentiality. Will be trained and work as Boardwalk Manager on duty. JOB TASKS * Scheduling and Team Management: Schedule and manage Warehouse and Retail teams in and out of summer season. * Payroll: Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate payments. * Purchasing Strategy: Develop and implement cost-efficient purchasing strategies based on sales data and market research. * Replenishment Management: Develop and manage procedure for forecasting pull through, ordering, receiving and allocation of goods avoiding stockout and overstock. * Inventory Reporting & Forecasting: Prepare and analyze product sales, facility, location, onhand, and velocity inventory reports and forecasts. * Scheduled Transfers: Coordinate scheduled transfers between warehouses and store locations. * Stocking Procedure: Develop and enforce efficient stocking procedures between WH teams. * Warehouse Management: Oversee warehouse operations, maintenance, equipment, rack systems, hardware, staff, security, safety, and cleanliness. * Vendor Relations & Negotiations: Build and maintain strong vendor relationships. * E-commerce Operations: Manage fulfillment, shipping, and guest service for e-commerce. * Store Theme, Experience, and Appearance: Ensure the store's theme, experience, and appearance align with brand standards, drives sales, engages and delight guests. * Discount Strategy: Develop and implement effective discount strategies to boost sales and move through targeted inventory. * Staging and Prepping Merchandise for Sales: Create quality standards and oversee staging and prepping of merchandise for sales. * Reporting: Prepare and analyze sales reports including average transaction value (ATV), staff sales, transactions, items per transaction and revenue per headcount. * Inventory Loss Prevention (LP): Implement loss prevention strategies and conduct audits. * Warehouse Layout: Design and optimize warehouse layout for efficient storage and picking. * Staff Certifications: Ensure staff certifications for vehicle operation are up to date. * Receiving & Payments: Oversee receiving and processing of stock. Code invoices and submit to accounting for payment. * Safety Officer: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. * Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory databases. * SOP Management: Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Physical Inventory Counts: Plan and conduct annual physical inventory counts. * Merchandise Committee: Participate in Merchandise Committee in sourcing vendors and products for product curation. * Internal Product Fulfillment: Manage product fulfillment and transfers for internal Boardwalk departments ensuring timely delivery. * Cost Reduction & Margin Retention: Implement strategies to reduce costs and retain margins. * Department Liaison: Act as a liaison with cash control, security, investigations, loss prevention, and marketing teams. * SOP Management: Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and SOP database. * Sales Forecasting: Conduct sales forecasting to inform staffing, merchandising and stocking. * HR Liaison: work with HR training team to manage Boardwalk's Best program and model exceptional guest service. * Complete monthly expense report. * Ensure the Seaside Company policies and procedures are followed including safety, guest services, and grooming. * Develop and implement procedures and training materials. * Train staff to prioritize tasks, manage time, and coordinate work to operate efficiently and cost effectively. * Perform other tasks as required. * Foresee potential problems and communicate with the Director any problems that arise. * Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE * 5 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a retail environment. * 3 years of experience in retail management * 2 years of experience managing e-commerce operations * Experience with e-commerce software platforms, particularly Shopify. * Strong leadership and team management skills. * Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities. * Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. * Knowledge of safety regulations and loss prevention strategies. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES * Knowledge of the principles of supply chain management and inventory control. * Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, decision making, organization, and management. * Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and training. * Ability to promote excellent service to guests and employees and to recognize employee contributions. * Ability to plan, organize, and manage the day-to-day warehouse operation. * Ability to train, supervise, coach, and motivate staff. * Ability to closely monitor staffing levels to help reduce payroll costs. * Ability to anticipate purchasing requirements and maintain an effective and accurate inventory control system. * Ability to champion teamwork, coordinate and facilitate work among retail team. * Ability to develop and implement procedures, systems, and training materials. * Ability to use a computer to access email, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and generate reports using various software systems. * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. * Ability to maintain confidentiality. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Able to walk and stand for 8 hours. * Bi-manual dexterity. * Able to lift, up to 40 pounds from floor to shoulder height. * Able to see and hear normal conversations. * Able to use arms and legs to operate equipment and climb stairs. * Able to use a step ladder * Able to move boxes and or fixtures which include pushing, pulling, and stooping. * Able to use a radio and hear transmissions. LICENSES / INSURANCE Must possess and maintain a valid California U.S. Driver's License at the time of hire. Required to maintain automobile liability coverage with a minimum of $15,000.00 bodily injury one person/$30,000.00 bodily injury total accident/$5,000.00 property damage coverage per California's minimum liability insurance requirements.
