Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Student/Temporary Help/Intern assists in performing programmatic activities, conducts research, tackles special projects, participates in planning, and provides needed support for program functions. Works under the general direction and guidance of the program staff and manager. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conduct research and assist with special projects. Assist with development and implementation of local programming. Assist with data entry for various projects and program evaluations. Work on a variety of projects and tasks pertinent to the Summit County Public Health's mission. Must possess the ability to communicate with the public verbally and in writing effectively and be able to work well with others. The use of an interpreter is acceptable. Must possess integrity, a sense of responsibility, and independent judgment. Must have working knowledge of Google products and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Must possess strong moral character and dedication to serving the underserved. Must work a set schedule to meet the needs of the program, division and agency. Perform job duties under the regulations, policies and procedures set forth by Summit County Public Health and outside agencies such as the County Fiscal Officer, Ohio Department of Health, and state and federal government. Perform any other duties as required for the efficient operation of Summit County Public Health. Obliges, as set forth by the Summit County Public Health Emergency Operations Plan and within the scope of their employment, to be available for emergency service during routine and non-routine hours of operation including 24/7/365 availability. May be required to have medical clearance for respiratory protection or other personal protective equipment and may be exposed to inclement weather, extreme temperatures, unpleasant smells or odors, dust, dirt, fumes, airborne particles, pesticides, toxins or caustic chemicals. BASIC REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Be in pursuit of a bachelors or graduate degree in a public health or related field or be a recent graduate seeking practical experience in the field. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license, liability insurance and have an automobile available. Maintain required licenses, credentials and/or certifications required for the position WORKING ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee typically works in a normal office environment as well as in various work sites that involve potential exposure to inclement weather, extreme temperatures, insects, wildlife, unpleasant smells or odors and excessive levels of dust, dirt and other elements of typical outdoor work. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts in precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, pesticides, toxins, raw sewage or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. In the event of an emergency situation, the work environment can change to outdoors during inclement weather and may require physical endurance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
