What You'll Do * Responsible for purchases of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal from industrial accounts * Develops the growth of business activities and profit with assigned accounts and in assigned territories * Investigates new potential sources of consumers of scrap metal. Buys from retail, dealer, light industrial customers, repair shops, demolition projects, clean-ups, etc * Purchases scrap metal materials in accordance with current market conditions based on pricing standards/models established by Company policy * Owns internal and external customer service relating to ferrous or non-ferrous business * Visits customers on a regular basis and maintain systemic data to record account history * Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations in order to purchase materials in compliance * Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills to ensure repeat business. * Responsible for sourcing and developing client relationships and referrals * Maximizes all opportunities in the process of closing a deal, resulting in the taking of market share from competitors * Responsible for meeting or exceeding buying/sourcing quotas * Participates in a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, direct mail, email & networking * Assists in the implementation of company marketing plans as needed * Maintains accurate records of all buying/sourcing and prospecting activities including closed sales and follow-up activities * Buys consultatively and recommends to prospects and clients various solutions the company offers to improve or resolve business issues. * Outcalls all potential suppliers that fall within the marketing strategy (bids & auctions). * Travel must be 4 days a week. What You'll Need * Contract negotiation experience preferred * Strong interpersonal skills required * Sense of teamwork as well as independent initiative required * Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively * Proficient in MS Office programs - Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint required. SAP experience a plus. * Demonstrates buying/selling skills & product knowledge * Strong oral and written communication skills required.
