Transforming the Future with Convergence of Simulation and Data Junior Application Software Developer Job Summary: Our client is looking for a Junior Application Software Developer. This is a contract position. fundamental understanding of application, system administration, and network solutions. Broad knowledge of DFAS Information and Technology (I&T) and/or other Department of Defense (DOD) environments is preferred, but not required. You will be a key member of a well-rounded, experienced medium-sized team within a flexible hybrid (remote and/or contractor site location) working environment. You'll work across the entire software development lifecycle, collaborating closely with both functional and technical team members to deliver innovative solutions. All Corporate Electronic Document Management System (CEDMS) applications require continued maintenance, security upgrades as DoD mandates, and functional enhancements as required by the customer base. Our team will be responsible for maintaining the DFAS CEDMS application instance(s), supporting operations, and performing services for all application system environments (Development, Staging, Production, Continuity of Operations) that are required for the application upgrades, research and development, testing, training, system maintenance, application security maintenance, system interface setup and maintenance, and consultation support across all modules. Apply technical expertise to perform tasks across multiple project assignments, including systems management and integration functions. Design and develop solutions to general application problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. * Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments, general computer applications software, and/or specialized utility programs. Ability to analyze user needs and develop software solutions. * Support Software development and deployment activities (development, testing, scheduling, obtaining necessary approvals, and then deployment of system software) to customer standards. Ensure that all customer-approved changes are performing as expected and providing the desired solution. * Perform software development functions for supported systems/services in response to customer and infrastructure requirements. * Identify and report problems in new and existing software. Support recreating reported software problems to facilitate solutions including validating the fixes for the software problems. * Employ best practices for design, development, unit testing, and test plan development. Actively participate in the documentation of software requirements, functional design, flowcharts, and diagrams. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or similar technical discipline. * Performs work that requires practical experience and training. Work is performed under supervision. 0-2 Years of demonstrated experience with general computer applications software on a large IT acquisition program. * Strong written and oral communication skills are required for collaboration with fellow functional/technical team members, along with any interaction with Gov't counterparts and key stakeholders. * Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable. * All contractor personnel accessing CEDMS applications will require a Tier 5 investigation for IT-I access, however, this role does not require an active security clearance. Preferred: * Knowledge of industry standards and technologies associated with software development, project engineering, systems development, systems engineering and integration, information technology, verification and validation, and information security. * Fundamental Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) Infrastructure experience and SQL programming experience desired. * Familiarity with any of the following Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software(s): Kofax OCR, Remote Scan, Enterprise Resource Management (ERM) Perfect, Active Portable Document File (PDF), Adobe, Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL), Oracle, Ultra Edit, Monarch Automator, Unisys Enterprise Output Manager (EOM), and Tectia software. * Basic knowledge and/or exposure to DOD IT systems, applications, and/or platforms housed within a security-cleared environment. * Ability to work on multiple work assignments simultaneously. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. * Seeks to improve personal job-related knowledge and departmental process by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment, participating in educational opportunities, and reading professional publications.
