GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Director of Veteran and Military Benefits, the Veteran and Military Benefits Processor will administer Veteran and Military educational benefits and Department of Defense tuition assistance programs. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Administer system-wide certifications of all VA educational benefits at all Ivy Tech Community College facilities, including the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Ch.33), the Montgomery GI Bill (Ch. 30 and Ch. 1606), Survivor and Dependent Educational Assistance Program (Ch. 35), Veteran's Readiness and Employment (Ch. 31), and any Veterans Affairs education initiatives. Administer system-wide certifications of all military tuition assistance programs at all Ivy Tech Community College facilities, including Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard. Coordinate non-Title IV financial aid funds with Ch 31, Ch 33, other Veterans Affairs education initiatives and military tuition assistance programs. Adhere to Veterans Affairs training guidelines to maintain compliance and keep up to date on all VA processes and Federal regulation changes. Maintain accurate records for VA education benefit recipients and assist in collecting data for required reporting. Utilize Ivy Tech Community College's and Veterans Affairs' education system databases as necessary. Ensure students are certified for only VA approved programs. Effectively communicate with appropriate departments regarding student enrollment status needs. Perform periodic quality control reviews on previously certified enrollments. This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Veteran and Military Benefits SUPERVISION GIVEN: None SALARY RANGE: $42,000 - $46,000 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred. Experience certifying veteran/military educational benefits preferred. Must have the ability to multi-task, be extremely detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational skills. Must be able to manage time effectively, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and demonstrate the ability to work in a diverse environment. Ability to learn and effectively use multiple software packages and databases required. A working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is mandatory. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines. Must be able to identify or acknowledge departmental needs, prepare documents, expedite processing, track and verify processes, and follow up without direct supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication is required. Must demonstrate strong customer service. Must be able and willing to work overtime on a seasonal basis.
