Remote Position with up to 80% travel (US) Your Job Georgia-Pacific is recruiting for a UAV (Drone) Pilot for our Unmanned Vehicle Inspection Platform (U-VIP) program. Our Team The UAV Pilot will work closely with the operations, maintenance, safety, and engineering teams across all Georgia-Pacific facilities to complete inspections utilizing unmanned technologies. What You Will Do * Perform drone inspection operations including pre-flight and post flight activities and flight tracking. * Execute small UAS (and other unmanned vehicle types, including submersible ROVs, USVs, and wheeled/tracked ROVs) missions, which will include combustible dust mitigation of building interiors, volumetric measurements, 3D/2D mapping, LiDAR modeling, confined space inspections, thermal profiling, general videography/photography, and others as needed. * Process captured data, create reports, write standard procedures, and upload data into the U-VIP data management systems. * Work flexible hours to execute work on scheduled shutdowns or meet the needs of facilities around the CONUS and Canada. This may include nights, weekends, and holidays. * Follow all safety and compliance policies. * Continuously innovate and create use cases for drone technology, as well as participate in proof-of-concept initiatives for new drones and use cases. * Liaise with stakeholders from many disciplines (safety, engineering, maintenance, etc.) at various manufacturing facilities. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Strong working knowledge of current and new general technology i.e. software, computers, phones, etc. * Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs. * Strong desire to scale a drone program and continuously improve its capabilities. * Ability to have a flexible schedule. * Have an active FAA Part 107 small UAS certification. * Ability to travel up to 80%. What Will Put You Ahead * General mechanical knowledge of assets used in pulp and paper manufacturing, wood products manufacturing, and gypsum manufacturing. * General electrical knowledge of assets used in pulp and paper manufacturing, wood products manufacturing, and gypsum manufacturing. * Experience with video editing software and/or the Adobe Creative suite of programs. * Previous UAV and/or ROV experience. * Experience working with LiDAR technology. * Thermography certifications. * Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications. * Canadian RPAS certifications.
