Position: Assistant Director/Choreographer Location: Ellensburg High School Reports to: Producer and ASB Coordinator Contract Amount: $700.00 Job Summary: The Play Choreographer & Assistant Director is responsible for teaching choreography, assisting with directing the cast, and helping to manage rehearsals. You'll work closely with the Director, Producer, students, and volunteers to ensure the play runs smoothly and meets the overall vision. Essential Job Functions: * Help the Director with rehearsals, blocking (movement on stage), and general guidance for the actors. * Help evaluate potential cast members' acting and movement abilities. * Assist with scheduling and leading rehearsals, including stepping in for the Director if needed. * Create and teach dance and movement routines for the show, tailored to the cast's abilities. * Work with students to improve their dance, movement, and acting skills, ensuring they understand their roles. * Work with the Director and design teams to ensure choreography and blocking fit the overall show vision. * Make changes to choreography and scene blocking to fit the cast's strengths and the needs of the production. * Help students with stage presence, movement techniques, and acting. * Assist with organizing the stage, ensuring smooth transitions, and keeping cast members ready for their scenes. * Guide parent and community volunteers who are helping with choreography or acting. * Be present at all performances to help with choreography, blocking, and any last-minute adjustments. * Assist in cleaning up and organizing after the final performance. Minimum Requirements: * Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.
