Edward Jones' Senior Economist role serves as an experienced thought leader and primary spokesperson for our insight and guidance on economic topics and conditions. This role evaluates and uses expert seasoned judgment to interpret and provide insights on macroeconomic and monetary policy conditions, serving as a prominent subject matter expert that contributes to the firm's asset allocation recommendations and timely investment perspectives. This role also serves as a key, visible spokesperson for the firm's investment philosophy, expertise and economic views, and is a primary author for our timely communications, content and commentary, along with delivering our views and guidance through media, presentations and other visible channels. This role has a high degree of responsibility for shaping our investment thinking and communicating our guidance, raising trust and confidence among our financial advisors and clients. What you'll do: * Serve as a spokesperson for the firm's guidance, delivering clear, credible and impactful communications that inspire trust and confidence in our guidance and purpose. * Communicate messages aligned with our purpose, investment philosophy and guidance through a variety of channels and mediums, including media outlets, internal home office and branch network presentations, industry events and investor/client events. * Represent the firm as a spokesperson on topics related to social elements of finance and economics with credibility and expertise. * Serve as a thought leader, providing insights and perspectives on macroeconomic, socioeconomic, and policy topics that contribute to the development of a broad suite of wealth management advice and guidance. * Serve as subject matter expert on economic topics, interpreting trends and conditions that are pertinent to the development of our guidance/resources and communications to our clients. * Collaborate and partner with leaders across the organization to support key firm strategic initiatives consistent with Edward Jones' purpose of partnering for positive impact. * Create and author content on economic trends and outlooks that can enhance the client experience and better inform financial advisor (FA) and client decisions. * Contribute to and/or author written resources (internal and client-facing) that effectively communicate our guidance, to include daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc strategy reports and communications. * Support the understanding of, and confidence in, our advice and guidance through effective engagement with our financial advisors and collaboration with internal stakeholders. What you'll need: * A bachelor's degree and an MBA or master's in a relevant field (economics, business, finance, accounting, mathematics) is required. PhD is desired. * CFA designation, actively pursuing CFA designation consistent with department policy, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and demonstrated expertise in a related field (economics, financial markets, asset allocation, wealth management). * 15+ years in related field (financial markets, economics, financial planning, wealth management). * Experience with public speaking. * Expert knowledge on macroeconomic areas, but also a wide variety of topics, including monetary policy, investing strategies and financial markets. The analysis requires gathering all relevant facts, the analysis of the information, and applying expert judgment to make the final decision and create the advice and guidance. * Deep knowledge of economic, statistical and investment concepts, as well as ability to interpret data to provide timely advice. * Ability to utilize various information sources including software tools and excel to identify relevant information needed to make appropriate investment or planning decisions. * Excellent communication skills and experience communicating with impact to investors and financial professionals through written, presentation and media channels, including the ability to convey complex financial concepts in an understandable manner appropriate to a variety of audiences. Public speaking experience required. * Highly collaborative, skilled in achieving desired outcomes and contributing to strategic initiatives by partnering and networking with a broad range of stakeholders. * Ability to create and communicate client-facing advice and guidance on a variety of wealth management topics/areas. * Strong understanding of Edward Jones investment philosophy and firm business model, along with client and investor needs as they relate to long-term goals and financial strategies. * Demonstrated success in defining, developing and communicating recommendations and strategies, and identifying risks and opportunities, as well as potentially how guidance should be integrated into tools, systems and training. * Very strong critical thinking skills necessary to make decisions and solve non-routine problems with a high degree of complexity regarding various investment issues in a timely manner. * Proactively identify and provide needed advice & guidance based on a thorough and detailed analysis of historical trends and future expectations.
