The postdoctoral associate will investigate the relationships between marital status and the social and emotional well-being of men and women. In particular, the postdoc will explore the ways in which the institution of marriage may matter more or less for the emotional and social welfare of contemporary adults than it did in previous decades. The postdoc will work under the direction of Dr. Brad Wilcox, professor of sociology and director of the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia. The postdoc will also be expected to teach two courses per year at UVA and pursue his/her own research agenda. Responsibilities include: * Teach two UVA classes per academic year Minimum Requirement Education: Doctoral degree Preferred Qualifications: * PhD in Sociology, Public Policy, Economics, or Psychology. * Expertise in quantitative data analysis and proficient in statistical software (e.g., R, Stata). * Prior experience with causal inference and longitudinal data analysis preferred but not required. * Demonstrated publication record and strong writing skills. Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
