Department Information This position is only open to current Residents of Colorado. Incumbent will be required to complete work for CDE within Colorado. As the administrative arm of the State Board of Education, CDE is responsible for implementing state and federal education laws, disbursing state and federal funds, holding schools and districts accountable for performance, licensing all educators, and providing public transparency of performance and financial data. The social and digital media manager will design and implements social and digital media strategies that educate and engage Coloradans around the department's strategic priorities: increasing student engagement, accelerating student outcomes, strengthening the educator workforce, and providing operational excellence. The role is responsible for effective story-telling through creating and curating content to share through the department's social media platforms, digital newsletters, and website. Reporting directly to the Chief Communications Officer, the successful candidate will be proactive, self directed, but also eager to collaborate on large projects and ideas. Why join us? * Because you love story-telling and celebrating educators and students * Because you're a creative "ideas person" who is unafraid to think big and try new things * Because you eat, sleep, and breathe social media and are excited to bring that interest to your work In this role, you will: * Develop and implement the department's social media strategy and content plan inclusive of targeted strategies based on audience and/or platform * Work collaboratively within the organization to develop and implement program- and/or initiative aligned social media campaigns * Monitor, analyze, and report out on relevant data to assess the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns and drive continuous improvement * Create, write, and edit print and visual content for the department's social media channels and manage content scheduling * Collaborate with district-level communicators and CDE staff to proactively identify internal and external opportunities for story-telling inclusive of in-field on-site photography and videography * Identify and implement effective strategies and tactics to increase both user engagement and audience size on each of the department's social media platforms * Write and edit content for the department's digital communications including internal- and external facing newsletters and the website; and * Provide strategic communications planning support and guidance to department colleagues and teams on effective strategies based on message and target audience Role is hybrid, working from home and reporting to Denver office. TRAVEL UP TO 25% statewide to visit sites Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or other related liberal arts field, or related experience (AS listed BELOW) substituted for EDUCATION * Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, and/or marketing, demonstrating increased roles and responsibilities Qualifications * Demonstrated success in leveraging social media to increase awareness and engage the public * Exceptional writing skills with strong attention to detail * Proven experience cultivating messaging to different audiences * Experience developing successful public relations/communications strategies Preferred Qualifications * Experience in communication in a K12 public ed system * Experience with large audiences (Mass Communications) Supplemental Information Complete Applications must include: * Completed Online Application:Required - Submitted through ourATS. * Resume: Required -Copy and Paste into the Supplemental Questions (11,000 character limit, aprx. 3 pages) Failure to submit a complete application as defined above by the announcement close will result in your application being removed from consideration.
