General Job Information JOB SUMMARY This position is in the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Support Services Division. The work involves setting up, operating, and maintaining different types of audio production and taping equipment commonly used in education, commercial, and industrial complexes, and assisting in carrying out details involved in presenting audio production work to the various communities at-large. Assists in directing and producing various audio programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Position requires a working and detailed knowledge of electronics, the interrelationship of sound production and maintenance requirements on all equipment. This knowledge provides the ability to design and organize and execute audio productions and field events in a variety of scopes, as well as, to recognize and correct problems as they occur during programs and events. Applies audio techniques such as sound composition, special effects, and editing and dubbing. Assists in selecting methods to be used in converting original audio materials into satisfactory media. Carries out work in design, planning and producing sound support systems and video programs, including amplification, mixing, recording special effects development, cuing, taping and editing for programs established by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Maintains contact, through the division chief, with institutions, DC and Federal government agencies, and private organizations using audiovisual media systems. Maintains correct inventory of equipment, its proper state of repair and advises supervisor on adequate coverage for program planning and future requirements. Notifies division chief of equipment needs and repair requests necessary for program operation. Moves heavy equipment such as speakers, podiums and other media. Assembles stages and sound equipment for mayoral press conferences, inter and intra-agency programs and special events. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION Applicants must possess at least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-07 grade level, or its non-District equivalent gained in the private or public sector. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Incumbents must possess a valid State-issued driver's license. First Aid and CPR Certification is required within the first six months of hire. WORKING CONDITION/ENVIRONMENT The work is performed in audio studios, workshops, construction sites, auditoriums, theatres, outdoor stadiums, convention halls, and warehouse areas, and may require special precautions. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS Tour of Duty: Varies; evenings and weekends may be required Pay Plan, Series, and Grade: RW-3901-08 Promotion Potential: None Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is in the collective bargaining unit represented by AFGE, Local 2741 and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through direct payroll deduction. Position Designation: This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive position. Incumbents of this position are subject to enhanced suitability screening under Chapter 4 of DC personnel regulations. Accordingly, applicants must successfully pass Pre-employment and Biennial Criminal Background, Traffic Records Checks and Drug and Alcohol Testing.
