Job Summary
Responsible for handling a variety of complex assigned projects within the Mountain America Legal Department.

SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position with an initial expectation of working in the office for at least the first 6 months. After this period, a hybrid schedule may be considered, requiring at least 2 days in the office each week, based on the Team Member's experience and performance.
To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully.
* Assists General Counsel in the daily operation of the Mountain America Legal Department.
* Provides legal advice and counsel to Credit Union leadership.
* Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts and other legal documents presented for execution or approval through the Vendor Management Program/Contract Review Program.
* Monitors and analyzes ongoing credit union legal climate to ensure legal risk is effectively addressed and mitigated. Reports on these matter to the General Counsel.
* Monitors employment law developments and advises Human Resources Team.
* Assists with the ERM risk assessment process as needed to ensure legal risks are appropriately addressed within risk assessments.
* Performs research as assigned on legal, compliance, regulatory matters.
* Works with outside counsel as necessary or appropriate.
* Obtains and maintains working knowledge of financial institution laws and regulations and credit union policies and procedures.
* Manages legal operations staff and supervises the legal processing operations obtains and maintains working knowledge of financial institution laws and regulations and credit union policies and procedures.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Experience
Minimum of six years of relevant legal experience, preferably with both law firm and financial institution experience.
Education
JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
Licenses, Certificates, Registrations
Licensed to practice law in the State of Utah or the ability to receive reciprocity/become licensed within one year of hire date.
Computer/Office Equipment Skills
Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Experience with risk management/assessment software, a plus.
Managerial Responsibility
Has supervisory/managerial responsibilities that are direct. Estimates personnel needs and assigns work to meet these needs. Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned staff. Recommends candidates for employment, conducts performance reviews, and salary reviews for assigned staff and applies company policy.
Interpersonal Skills
Responsiveness, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves constant interaction with both inside and/or outside parties.
Language Skills
Superior written and verbal communication skills required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must be a team player with adept problem-solving skills and the ability to garner trust with other credit union employees. Must be detail oriented. Able to represent the credit union in a positive and professional manner. Ability to prioritize, organize and effectively communicate is required. Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality. Must have an advanced skill level with WestlawNext.
