Personalized care together with advanced technology is what it means to be Community Strong Responsibilities The Messenger/Transporter is responsible for transporting patients to various departments through out the hospital. Assists in the transport of patients between nursing units/other departments and discharged patients from the nursing unit, or Ambulatory Surgery or Wound Healing Center (Andrus Pavilion). Answer telephone, dispatch transport calls, and maintain logs as requested. Observe concern for patient comfort and safety in the responsibilities of transport/escort (i.e., wheelchair safety belts, checking ID band for patient's identity, etc.). Transport STAT surgical specimens, reports x-ray, etc. to/from the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Laboratory, Radiology, or Pathology. Deliver needed medications from the Pharmacy to the Nursing units/Wound Healing Center (Andrus Pavilion). Promptly respond to STAT pick-up request from nursing units and other departments. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years experience preferably working in a health care facility setting. English required as written and verbal skill. Able to follow directions and write legibly. Must present a neat, well-groomed appearance. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Able to establish a cordial rapport with patients, families and visitors; and a cooperative working relationship with peers and other hospital staff. Experience preferred.
