Individual will be responsible for supporting and managing environmental issues associated with electric and gas operations. Support will primarily involve emergency response and management of Oil and Hazardous Material (OHM) releases, planned cleanups of contemporaneous spills, managing regulated waste streams, oversight of substation SPCC Plan accuracy and Tier II filings, providing training on and developing policies and procedures for related environmental matters. This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office. Essential Functions * Provides environmental oversight for assigned service area. * Provides direction and support for OHM spill containment and cleanup. * Provides on-call availability for storm and after-hours emergency OHM spill response in assigned service area. * Coordinates the management and disposal of hazardous and regulated materials generated in assigned region. * Provides guidance and support on the management and disposal of asbestos containing materials (ACM). * Develops and maintains substation Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure plans (SPCC) for assigned region. * Represents Eversource with customers and regulatory authorities striving to enhance and improve relationships. * Prepares substation annual LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Commission) and SARA (Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act) Tier 2 reports (Community Right to Know). * Participates in substation internal environmental assessments/audits and inspections. * Assists/supports internal business area owners to improve environmental processes and in audit follow-up actions and responses. * Assists in site assessment and remediation activities at Company locations regulated by state and/or federal rules as hazardous waste sites. * Assists in property sale and acquisition environmental ASTM (/American Society for Testing and Materials) / AAI (All Appropriate Inquiry) due diligence activities. * Drives proactive PCB removal program for assigned area. Qualifications Technical Knowledge/Skills: * Requires knowledge regarding spill containment and cleanup; emergency spill response; PCB waste testing and disposal, collection, transport, documentation (manifests) and disposal of hazardous and regulated materials (including asbestos); development and maintenance of substation facility SPCC plans; water/wastewater discharge permits; preparation of substation annual LEPC & SARA reports (Community-Right-to-Know). * Knowledge regarding the conducting of internal environmental assessments/audits, inspections and follow-up corrective actions; reduction of PCB-containing transformers; spoils reuse and disposal; PILC; metals reclamation; waste minimization; transformer recycling and cost recovery; and major storm response). * Ability to verbally communicate effectively to individuals and groups both internal and external to the company. * Ability to write clearly and concisely, effective oral communication. Education: * Bachelor's degree in environmental science, related field, or equivalent experience Experience: * Three (3) plus years related experience. Licenses & Certifications: * Must hold a valid motor vehicle driver's license. Compensation and Benefits: * Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $89,000 - $99,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
