JOB OBJECTIVE: Do you have experience as a pipelayer? Are you looking to be part of a hardworking team and to begin developing your career? This is a position in which you will perform basic construction tasks as needed and more specific/technical pipelaying. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education - High School Graduate or Equi Experience - Minimum of 6 months in pipelaying. KNOWLEDGE: * Basic knowledge of residential / commercial construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, technique, tools and equipment/materials. * Minimal ability to read blueprints. * Understanding of grade rod reading and calculation of slopes. * Ability to figure grade. * Use of pipe laser. * Knowledge of potable water fittings. * Ability to operate basic hand tools, small power tools and construction related equipment. EQUIPMENT OPERATOR SKILLS: Ability to operate - 1-Ton Truck, Forklift, Bobcat, Loader, Backhoe, Excavator, Compactors and Man-lifts are preferred. REQUIRED TOOLS / CLOTHING: * Need basic tools and work clothing for all types of construction laboring. * These will include - 25' tape measure, claw hammer, torpedo level and channel locks. * Work clothing consists of Carhartt type work pants, leather boots, gloves and outdoor winter wear when required. REQUIRED COMMUNICATION SKILLS: * Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. * Will need to be adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process and developing harmonious working relationship during the project. * Must be able to facilitate prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they arise. ORGANIZATIONAL / PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: * Able to organize assigned tasks while working alone and with help. * Able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for personal time sheets. * Able to reason using acquired skills and able to recognize when to ask for help. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Requires the ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of a construction project. * Requires the ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 20 feet, and crawl for distances of 50 feet. * Requires the ability to work with tools, pipe / sheet metal and materials. * Requires the ability to lift and manipulate objects of 100 lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Most time is spent working under a supervisor at a job-site or in the shop. Some driving may be required. In order to drive company vehicles, a DMV report showing a valid driver's license and good driving record is required. If this is a problem it needs to be mentioned on application. COMPENSATION / CAREER PATH: Commensurate with skill level. Willing to pay top wages and benefits based on construction experience with future career opportunities based on performance. We currently hire our plumbing and sheet metal apprentices from our labor personnel. WORK HOURS: Work hours will be from 7:00AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday (and Friday if working out of town) with 30 minutes for lunch. Overtime may be required at times but is dependent on how busy we are and must have supervisor approval. Hours may change dependent on job scheduling per the general contractor.
