Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II for the department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of faculty member, candidate is responsible for the conduct of highly specialized and technical research within the Mickolajczyk laboratory. The research projects within the lab focus on studies relative to the mechanisms of preribosome maturation by motor proteins and regulation and substrate-targeting by ATPase enzymes in ribosome biogenesis. Among the key duties of this position are the following: * Performs various research and clinical technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of a laboratory. The main project involves studying the mechanisms of motor proteins using single-molecule methodologies. May conduct, independently or as assigned, specialized research for a particular project. Will also have the opportunity to participate in ongoing collaborative projects, as well as to spearhead new projects within the lab. * Participates in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the clinical and research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department. * Under supervision, assists in the conducting of continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revision where necessary and proposing new procedures where required. * As requested, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department. * Engage in scientific communication, mentor graduate/undergraduate students and training of junior personnel. * Maintain accurate records of laboratory notebooks and research activity. Review literature, assist with grant writing, prepare manuscripts and abstracts for submission.
