Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Training Manager will manage the International Center for Child Health and Development's (ICHAD) training portfolio. ICHAD is an active research center whose mission is to contribute to the reduction of poverty and improvement of public health outcomes for children, adolescents and families in low-resource communities, particularly those in Sub-Saharan Africa and other developing nations. The Center advances its mission through innovative applied intervention research, capacity building opportunities for a new generation of scholars, raising public awareness and support for economic empowerment interventions, and informing public policy and programming. ICHAD builds upon a 15+ year solid foundation of basic and applied innovative field research conducted by ICHAD Research Teams across Sub-Saharan Africa. Currently, ICHAD houses ten research studies and four NIH-funded research training programs. ICHAD's innovative applied intervention research studies are designed to contribute to the reduction of poverty and improvement of public health outcomes for children, adolescents, and families in low-resource communities, particularly those in Sub-Saharan Africa and other developing nations. Capacity building is one of the primary focus areas for ICHAD as we continue to develop and implement contextually-relevant evidence-based interventions to support children, families, and communities in addressing the unique challenges they experience. By leveraging our global research studies, university affiliations, and institutional partnerships, ICHAD promotes bi-directional learning between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa, and beyond, to train the next generation of global behavioral health researchers through four NIH-funded training grants.
