To provide classroom instruction to AE (Adult Education), ESL (English as a Second Language), and ABE (Adult Basic Education) GED (General Education Development) students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing; and to perform related duties as required. Teach CCR (College and Career Ready) classes. This position, based in Chadron, Nebraska, will work up to 16 hours per week.Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Work directly with the AE, ABE and ESL students and are responsible for accurate assessment, instruction and outcomes for student performance. * Actively participate in the registration, career pathways intake and orientation process for students.   * Take an active role in student data collection to include student attendance hours.   * Provide instruction to meet all College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards. * Prepare lessons and schedule classroom activities; develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance lessons. * Administer and evaluate diagnostic tests to determine student needs; enroll students in appropriate programs; administer tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual student scores and progress. * Act as an advisor and counselor to GED students; aid in their progression through the learning programs; disseminate information regarding all adult basic education courses. * Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and update; prepare teaching and workshop training materials as appropriate; attend staff meetings as required. * Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain various records and data bases according to program needs or program requirements. * Stay abreast of new developments and changes in the field of AE, ESL, and GED; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars and other continuing education programs as appropriate. * Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required instructional area. * Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate a variety of instructional material; select books to be used for assigned instructional classes. * Assist students in the operation and set-up of computers and audio-visual equipment. * Perform back-up instructional activities and proctoring for other instructors as needed. * Assist in the recruitment of community ABE students. * Participate in a variety of student related administrative activities including student progress and qualifications for GED testing. * Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Bachelor's degree and teaching experience preferred or a combination of education, experience, and certifications that demonstrates the candidate is capable of teaching the academic content (per Nebraska Department of Education, 11/18/2022). Experience: Some experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher is preferred. License or Certificate: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC's vehicle insurance.  Knowledge of: Individual and group instructional techniques and procedures. Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment. GED course requirements and contents. ESL instruction. Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment. Principles and procedures of record keeping. Principles and techniques involved in curriculum and test development and administration. Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Operational characteristics of computers and audio-visual equipment.
