JOB TITLE: Library Specialist, Studio Coe JOB PURPOSE: This position oversees the day-to-day operations of Studio Coe, One Button Studio, Voice Box, and future active learning spaces as they come online in conjunction with another Library Specialist. Trains and supervises staff with another Library Specialist to provide digital communication assistance to patrons. Assists in the assessment of services to make recommendations regarding hours, programming, marketing, and software and hardware to support student learning. This position reports to the Innovative and Immersive Technologies Librarian. This position works standard University business hours (8-5 during Fall and Spring semesters; 7:30-4:30 during summer). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * In conjunction with another Library Specialist, oversee the day-to-day operations of the Studio Coe multimedia lab and related audio/video production spaces. Coordinate with UWIT to ensure software and hardware are functioning correctly. Provide feedback to Innovative and Immersive Technologies Librarian and Assistant Dean for User Services for technology purchases and upgrades. Meet regularly with Innovative and Immersive Technologies Librarian to share information and identify further opportunities to support digital communication, creativity, and knowledge creation. Coordinate with Libraries faculty and staff and University IT to ensure software and hardware are functioning, facilitating repairs/updates as necessary. Assess use and impact of services and equipment to make recommendations to Library Administration for budgeting of staffing and technology purchases. Contribute to research and planning of new service opportunities. Maintain relationships with other units within UW Libraries and the larger UW community, attending meetings and training as needed with partners. * Hire, train, and supervise 5-6 hourly non-benefitted employees to provide assistance to patrons with video and audio editing and production, graphic design software, virtual reality technology, and other services as they come online. Create, implement, and assess policies for usage of equipment and space in Studio Coe, One Button Studio, Voice Box, and VR workstations, ensuring equitable access and best practices for equipment use and safety. * Assist in planning and delivery of workshops as assigned by Innovative and Immersive Technologies Librarian to educate UW faculty, staff, students, and community patrons with digital technologies, and other instruction pertaining to audio/video creation and graphic design. Assist with scheduling audio and video creation spaces. * Work with marketing staff and Libraries faculty to promote Studio Coe services and events. Coordinate with Libraries faculty to conduct outreach events. * Develop online educational materials pertaining to audio/video creation and graphic design, including videos, webpages, and handouts, to assist patrons with asynchronous learning as assigned by the Innovative and Immersive Technologies Librarian. Monitor relevant literature, listservs, social media, and other outlets to track developments in technology and recommend new services, hardware, software, and instructional opportunities. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: * Complete other duties as assigned based on the needs of the department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's degree Experience: : 1-year experience working in a library, computer lab, or other learning/engagement space Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: None DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Work experience or coursework in at least one of the following areas: video creation, audio/podcasting creation, graphic design, or virtual/augmented reality projects * Customer service experience * Experience teaching or planning workshops or presentations * Supervisory or project management experience * Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning new technology * Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility REQUIRED MATERIALS: Complete the online application and upload the following for a complete application: * cover letter * resume or C.V. * contact information for four work-related references. * Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
