This position is responsible for coordinating and planning chemistry operations necessary to operate the reactor and steam plant in accordance with regulations and industry guidance. The chemist will provide technical oversight of the chemistry programs assigned. This position will provide technical guidance to the chemical technicians and provide support for process quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will perform most assignments independently on issues related to the Chemistry Department. The pay for this role will be: Step 1 - $46.47 Step 2 - $50.78 Step 3 - $53.61 Step 4 - $56.43 Step 5 - $59.26 Step 6 - $62.09 This position will be posted for 10 Working Days from July 11, 2024 to July 24th, 2024. Experience: Placement into the Chemist Progression is based on experience in the following areas; environmental, general water treatment, radiochemistry, and general analytical instrumentation. Position will work with Xcel facilities and/or customers on a limited basis to enhance availability, reliability, and help ensure low operating costs. Essential Responsibilities * Assist in the development and implementation of chemical treatment and/or analytical programs and related procedures, including chemical cleanings. Performs analysis, reviews and reports data. Maintains and troubleshoots instrumentation. * Trains plant and/or analytical personnel. May include external training and presentations. Review process parameters for compliance with control limits. Correct out of control parameters. Generate statistical control charts. * Participate in the development of new technologies and assist in the writing of procedures utilizing appropriate improvements. * Interface on a limited basis with environmental services and governmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulations. * Consult with internal and external customers on a limited basis to ensure compliance and optimize processes through inspections and data analysis. Required: * A bachelor of science in chemistry or related field is required. * 10 years or more experience in BWR chemistry may be acceptable as equivalent degree. * Laboratory experience is required preferably in a nuclear power plant setting. Preferred: * Experience with Hazwaste and Chemistry Lab QA/QC is highly desired. BWR chemistry and operations are desired as well.
