Position Title Career Coach (2 positions available) Position Number 897254, 897541 School/Division Student Affairs Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, the Career Coach plays an integral role in delivering equitable career development education to Hofstra students. The incumbent demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and effectively integrates them into all aspects of the role. The Career Coach role focuses on preparing students for their careers through 1:1 coaching and advising; providing workshops, presentations, and educational programs; and creating career readiness resources for various populations. The Career Coach serves as a liaison to the faculty/dean's office within an assigned college at the University. The Career Coach is expected to uphold the values of The Division of Student Enrollment, Engagement, and Success (SEES), and work collaboratively to execute its mission to promote student learning, growth, and success, in and out of the classroom, while demonstrating value add to student recruitment and retention efforts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Career Readiness (70%) * 1:1 Career Coaching support to individuals with varying identities and experiences. * Develops and delivers career development workshops and other educational programs, assuring the unique needs and challenges faced by students with marginalized identities are considered as programs are developed and implemented. * Collaborates with faculty, academic advisors, and other campus departments to integrate career development into the overall student experience and provide a seamless transition from academics to the workforce. * Consistently engages in professional development to increase knowledge and understanding of higher education administration and enhance knowledge of career theory, coaching techniques, resume, and cover letter writing strategy, networking, industry trends, and best practices in career coaching and advising. College Liaison Responsibilities (20%) * Serves as a liaison to the faculty/dean's office in assigned college, conducting regular outreach, and offering support. * Facilitates program requests from faculty in liaison areas and as needed broadly across academic departments. * Collaborates with the Senior Associate Director of Career Development & Assessment and faculty to develop curriculum and career education content for professional development courses, ensuring that educational materials are aligned with best practices in career services and industry. * Under the supervision of the Senior Associate Director of Career Development & Assessment, develops virtual resources and content as well as assessment tools for use in coaching and advising and professional development courses. Additional Projects and Administrative Responsibilities (10%) * Collaborates and provides support for large scale programming across the department, division, and the University, including career fairs, orientation, Welcome Week, Open Houses/Admissions Events, Commencements, and other events, as needed. * Facilitates professional development/career readiness presentations, as assigned, with campus partners and student organizations, which may be scheduled outside of normal business hours. * Maintains accurate engagement records, including but not limited to entering appointment and event data into office systems such as Navigate and Handshake. * Collaborates with campus partners as assigned to integrate career development education into the overall student experience. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required. * 1-3 years of experience in college student development, human resources, or related field. * Knowledge of career development theories and NACE Career Readiness Competencies. Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field preferred. Salary/Salary Range $58,500 Additional Information Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions. * Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
