Job Description: Under the direction of and reporting to the Sr. Manager Advanced Manufacturing Engineer individual will develop and lead activities in the advanced manufacturing lab. This role will support NPD for battery and motor development, be the main point of contact for the lab space, and support technical adv manf projects. A cross functional individual that excels at collaboration and communication, but willing to own technical execution of projects in the lab. This position works in a team environment and uses technical expertise and abilities to contribute to the development and manufacturing of batteries and motors. Specific duties include: * Main contact and owner of global advanced manufacturing engineering (GAME) lab * Able to work with diverse groups on projects. * Further develop lab space. Improving request system, creating a functional work environment, and building a world class lab for advanced manufacturing development. * Create proof-of-concept prototypes using small 3D prints. This involves understanding the design requirements, operating 3D printing machinery, and ensuring the prototype meets the required specifications. * Assist in scaling New Product Development (NPD) builds. This involves understanding the battery requirements, coordinating with the development team, and ensuring the successful execution of the builds. * Set up, maintain, and improve lab equipment. This includes ensuring the equipment is in good working condition, performing regular checks, and implementing improvements for efficiency. * Candidates must possess some level of mechanical knowledge and experience in the troubleshooting of automated equipment. * Perform battery tear downs to inspect and analyze the components. This helps in understanding the product's performance and identifying areas for improvement. * Perform cross-sectioning of batteries to analyze their internal structure. This helps in understanding the product's performance and identifying any internal issues * Perform laser welding operations on various motor components, ensuring high-quality welds that meet specifications. * Perform software modifications to existing manufacturing machinery and process system PLC's HMI's and Data Collection systems. * Robotic programming experience with Fanuc * Camera programming experience a plus (Cognex, Keyence, or similar) Other Requirements: * Ability to travel domestically and internationally for machine and/or concept evaluations. Estimated yearly travel, 10%. Most trips will be contained into 1 week with possibilities of weekend travel. * Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds repeatedly to a height of 3-4 feet with possibility to lift up to 35 pounds. * Ability to learn technical material. * Ability to be interactive "hands on" with each upcoming engineering project. Education and Experience Requirements: * Technical College graduate or equivalent with five years' experience in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Automation technical areas. PLC programming certificate or robot training a plus. * Fundamentals of electronics, AC/DC circuits, motors, sensors, pneumatics and controllers * Proficient in Microsoft Office * Strong communication and organizational skills * Nice to have: LabVIEW, PLC, robotic, or python programming experience.
