Title: Equipment Engineer, Member of Technical Staff Date: Jul 19, 2024 Location: CA, US Work Location Type: On-site Company: QuantumScape Corporation Description: QuantumScape developed the industry's first anode-less cell design, which delivers high energy density while lowering material costs and simplifying manufacturing. Our innovative battery cell technology can store energy more efficiently and reliably than today's lithium-ion batteries. Responsibilities: Drive design, development, and commissioning ramp of complex and custom high speed automated manufacturing equipment, including creation of equipment specifications. Tests and validates new designs and equipment. Lead the installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance planning of manufacturing equipment. Creating equipment SOP's and documentation supporting LOTO and preventative maintenance activities. Maintain current records on equipment manufacturers' technical notices, upgrades, and safety issues. Establish spare parts list for inventory, research second source options to support equipment engineering requirements. Establish CIP (continuous improvement process), programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Provide technical/engineering support to the equipment maintenance team for repairs and process organizations. Work with equipment vendors to ensure tool support is being provided during line down situations. Provide troubleshooting support for complex issues and address root cause analysis utilizing 8D and FMEA evaluations. Supports WBS and project management skills utilizing MS Office applications. Establish a TPM (total preventative maintenance) program for equipment. Knowledge and Skills Required: BS & ~3 years of progressive experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering or automotive manufacturing engineering OR a Master's degree or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 1 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering or automotive manufacturing engineering. Must be a driven self-starter, able to manage their schedule and projects accordingly, with minimal supervision, to meet expectations to support department and company goals. Basic knowledge of company Facilities systems. Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, including fundamentals of electricity, and basic electronic components and circuits. Knowledge of vacuum principles and systems. Demonstrated experience with PLC/Controls and ladder logic coding. Strong mechanical aptitude to enable understanding of mechanical systems. Known SPC principles such as improving Cpk and reducing control limit baselines and how the equipment affects SPC performance. Understand how process control programs and manufacturing execution systems interact. Strong skills to work in a matrix organization with excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills required. Experience working with an international community, especially with overseas suppliers who are non-native English speakers. This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices. Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role has a range of $95,300-120,100, and a salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
