Human Resources & Civil Service is seeking a dynamic Training and Development Coordinator to join our team and drive the growth and development of our workforce.  In this role, you will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of employees citywide.  Key responsibilities include training program development and facilitation as well as documentation.  The Coordinator will develop programing in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to create engaging content for a diverse, multigenerational workforce.   Department: Human Resources & Civil Service Salary: $55,888 Position Type: Announcement Union: Non-Union Civil Service Classification: Non-Competitive General Application Requirements: You must submit or show proof of all of the following at the time of filing your application (unless otherwise indicated below) or your application will be disqualified.  Disqualifications based on any of these General Application Requirements are not subject to a Civil Service appeal. * Applicants must submit a complete application including education, work experience, a resume (if applicable) and completed supplemental questions. * Applicants must comply with the City of Pittsburgh's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. * Applicants must become residents of the City of Pittsburgh prior to employment and remain a resident throughout employment.  * Click here to view a map of City of Pittsburgh neighborhoods. NOTE:  Candidates being considered for employment will be required to submit official transcripts to verify of their post-secondary education (college/university, trade school, etc.) prior to being hired by the City of Pittsburgh.  Transcripts must be submitted at the time of any/each job interview you have with the City of Pittsburgh Qualifying Requirements: Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position.  You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status. * WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of learning and organizational development experience, including experience developing and implementing organization-wide training programs. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.) * EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Development, Adult Education, Human Resources, or a related field. Additional education/certifications in the areas of Instructional Design, Project Management, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training). * EQUIVALENCY:  Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is five (5) years.  (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training). Civil Service Examination(s): If you meet the qualifying requirements listed above, you will be sent a letter of admission (when applicable) for the following examination(s).  You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position.  Candidates who receive job offers must pass a medical examination (when applicable) prior to start date. * Written:  None required for this position. * Performance:  None required for this position. * Medical:  None required for this position . * Develops and facilitates professional development programs as assigned by the Human Resources Director and the Assistant Director, Secretary & Chief Examiner. * Works closely with department Directors and HR Business Partners to identify training needs, aligns programs with organizational goals, and ensures seamless integration with other talent development initiatives. * Assesses training and development needs through surveys and communication with department Directors, Assistant Directors, Managers and/or Supervisors. *  Designs and develops comprehensive training programs including training manuals and course materials tailored to meet the needs of employees at various skill levels. These programs may include skill-building courses, policy-driven trainings, leadership development series, and fair hiring practices.  * Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance and retraining requirements. * Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation and skills training for employees. * Leads engaging and interactive training sessions using lectures, group discussions, team exercises, hands-on examples, and other training formats. Training may be in the form of a video, web-based program, or self-guided instructional manual. * Researches and provides expertise in curriculum trends and best practices for ongoing professional development in the areas of leadership, management, policy compliance, acquiring new skills, and basic work related skills. * Develops training initiatives that resonate with employees of diverse ages and backgrounds, fostering interest and participation across a multigenerational workforce. * Assists in developing and implementing diversity and inclusion projects and initiatives. * Coordinates with vendors to meet program needs. * Facilitates train the trainer sessions. * Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys and/or feedback. * Researches and orders materials approved by department Director or Assistant Director. * Performs administrative tasks such as, scheduling classes, conducting surveys and coordinating enrollment. * Performs activities and functions of related personnel and related tasks and duties as assigned or required.  Click here to view the full job description including knowledge, skills, and abilities and working conditions for this position.  Locate and click on the position title to view the complete job description.
