For more information on benefits for this position: AFSCME Benefit Guide.   About the Job: This is responsible technical work developing applications to support the GIS and asset management software. The work involves GIS database design, end-user support, application development, user interface development, and software links between GIS, asset management systems, and other application software.  The work is performed under the general supervision of a program manager and is reviewed by observation, conferences, and written reports.   The work involves complex GIS processing and analysis functions. GIS data input, maintenance and information retrieval from GIS data sources would be routine. Employees in this classification would be expected to prepare reports and analyze data; coordinate updates and changes to shared GIS data; and apply quality control procedures to ensure database accuracy.   For a full description of this position, please see the class specification on the City's website. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS * A Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, computer science or related field AND three (3) years full time professional-level experience in developing and implementing automated geographic information systems; OR * Any equivalent combination of education and professional-level experience in developing and implementing automated geographic information systems sufficient to provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.  * Work experience may be substituted for the required education or training, on a year-year (1-year) basis, not to exceed two (2) years. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS Physical ability and knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as described in the job description. EXAMINATION STEPS * Qualified applicants will complete a supplemental questionnaire review with application (weighted 30%). Please be aware that this is BLIND RATED, and raters will not have access to your application or resume. * A limited number of the top-qualifying applicants will be called to a practical/oral panel evaluation (weighted 70%), Tentatively scheduled for the end of October. * All vacancies in this job class will be filled from the ranked Civil Service register established from the examination process until the register expires in 12 months or is depleted. IMPORTANT NOTES * A passing grade of 70.00 or higher is required on all parts of the screening process for placement on the ranked Civil Service eligible register.   * The examination process is designed to sample and measure the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.  * Applicants claiming veterans' preference points in accordance with RCW 41.04.010 as amended and meeting eligibility criteria must submit form DD214 or other official military separation documentation that clearly indicates an honorable discharge from military service on or before the date filing closes.   * Extensive background checks will be conducted.  * New hires begin employment at the first step of the salary range.   * This job classification is represented by Everett Municipal Employees Local 113, AFSCME.   Filing Opens: September 13, 2024                                                                                               Filing Closes: October 4, 2024 Open/Competitive A24069
