The primary purpose of the Undergraduate Research Center (URC) Director is to promote and oversee the integration of research into the undergraduate experience. The URC Director plays a crucial role in enriching the undergraduate educational experience, fostering a culture of inquiry and discovery, and preparing students for advanced study and professional careers. The URC Director works closely with faculty in academic units to recruit and train faculty mentors for students, develops strategic integration of undergraduate research opportunities for all students, and procures grants to support the sustainability of the Center. Additionally, the URC Director manages budget planning and staff. Primary Function of Organizational Unit The mission of the Center of Undergraduate Research is to prepare undergraduate students for graduate programs in STEM and non-STEM areas and the workforce by engaging students in real-world research experiences. The overarching goals of the center are: 1) to empower and foster a success-oriented research experience for our diverse students 2) to provide undergraduate students with research experiences early in their careers 3) to provide impactful opportunities that increase students' confidence, awareness, and access in conducting undergraduate research. Our structured undergraduate research experiences are created within an inclusive environment that instills a sense of belonging and recognizes the talent all our students bring to STEM and non-STEM disciplines. We reflect on our experiences using faculty-student research collaborations within nurturing support systems that leverage underrepresented cultures and assets while setting high expectations to improve critical thinking skills. Minimum Requirements * Must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant field in higher education. * Eligible for the rank of an Associate or Full professor. * Extensive experience in mentoring undergraduates in research as well as recruiting and cultivating faculty research mentors. * Extensive experience in higher education administrative duties including team leadership and office management, assessment, and budget planning and oversight. * Established track record in partnership building and collaboration, excellent oral and written communication, time management, and personnel management. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education ● Experience working with a diverse population of learners. ● Excellent written and oral communication skills. ● Demonstrated strong management skills. ● Successful track record of establishing credibility and trust. ● Fluency with desktop applications including databases, word processing, presentation, and cloud-based computing. Required License or Certification N/A Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)
