Student Employee - Chemistry Lab
Location: Student Employment , KS 67530
Department: Academics
Rate of Pay: $9.00 - $9.00 Hourly
Position Description
The students will be responsible for measuring, prepping lab kits in boxes, and mailing them as well as tasks assigned to him/her to aid in the daily routine of the Chemistry department.
Position Responsibilities
50% - Measure, bag or bottle ingredients for lab kits
20% - Box the chem lab kits and prepare them for shipping
10% - Mail chem lab kits
10% - Dishwashing and glassware cleaning
5% - Maintenance of the organization within the prep rooms
5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned
Expectations
Ability to measure chemicals and prepare them safely
Dependability and willingness to learn is a must
Handles laboratory equipment and glassware with care
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience - Basic computer experience with Microsoft software and the ability to read the scales
Education - Science coursework is helpful
Other Skills - Interpersonal skills and attention to detail
Physical Requirements
The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity.
Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as: toxic laboratory, industrial chemicals, confined, dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Wages/Other
This position pays $9/hr
