Description The Well-Being area in the Human Services and Public Health department (HSPHD) is seeking to hire two Vocational Counselors on their Family Stabilization Services team. You will join a team of Vocational Counselors, Case Management Assistants, and Transition Team Leaders who work together to assist individuals and their families in identifying and addressing barriers to employment. A Vocational Counselor in this role works with individuals with physical and/or emotional disabilities with a goal of attaining employment towards family stabilization and/or self-sufficiency. Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. For more information visit employee referral program. Location and hours: These positions are hybrid and will be performed both on-site at various Hennepin County service centers, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. About these position types: These are full-time, benefit earning positions. These positions are internally classified as a Vocational Counselor. In these positions you will: * Conduct vocational and full family assessments and implement individualized vocational rehabilitation plans in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) Family Stabilization Services Program. * Evaluate employment plans at defined intervals to review, modify, and establish vocational goals toward achievement of participant self-sufficiency or family stabilization. * Monitor participant progress through monthly review of submitted documentation that may include medical reports, psychological reports, pre-vocational activity logs, or paid work activities. * Provide a decision regarding the individuals continued eligibility. * Make referrals and provide data to social service agencies to assist them in obtaining services to improve family stabilization and self-sufficiency. * Report and apply program policies in an accurate and timely manner. Need to have: * Bachelor's degree or higher in vocational rehabilitation, vocational counseling, counseling psychology, or related field, and one or more years of providing employment services to adults with physical and/or emotional disabilities, and who have significant barriers to obtaining and retaining employment. Nice to have: * Experience: * Working with the principles and techniques of vocational rehabilitation and vocational counseling. * Interviewing individuals with physical and/or emotional disabilities regarding their job skills, interests, and barriers and support obtaining and retaining employment. * Referring clients to external vocational programs and other community resources.
