TO: All Teaching and Administrative Personnel Brockton Public Schools FROM: Dr. Kathleen F. Moran, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources SUBJECT: Assistant Principal - Champion High School/Brockton Virtual Learning Academy It is requested that the following information be brought to the attention of all teaching and administrative personnel in the Brockton Public Schools. The School Department is advertising the position of Assistant Principal - Champion High School/Brockton Virtual Learning Academy for the 2024-2025 school year. This shared position would be located at Champion High School in the Paine Building. Qualifications: Principal/Assistant Principal 9-12 license Five or more years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience. Strong background in secondary education, initiatives, philosophy, teaching, and curriculum and instruction preferred. Experience in change process, redesign initiatives and strategies, accreditation, special education, and multilingual learners preferred. Knowledge of student discipline laws and regulations, multi-tiered support systems, Restorative Justice, district policies, best practices related to building administration, and student handbook policies. Supervision and evaluation experience preferred. Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Assist in sustaining a positive climate and culture conducive to teaching and learning in order to increase student proficiency. 2.Review student attendance, behavior, and academic data on a bi-weekly basis and conduct family/caregiver meetings to develop interventions and report attendance concerns in accordance with district identified timelines. 3.Administer student discipline according to district policy and law. 4.Ensure all students involved in discipline know their rights and receive due process. 5.Develop intervention strategies that support the needs of students and ensure all staff are trained and supported in the use of those strategies. 6.Conduct investigations to ensure appropriate documentation of incidents, interviews, and outcomes. 7.Implement a multi-tiered system of support that integrates data and instruction to increase student proficiency and support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs 8.Complete district-provided safety care training and utilize de-escalation techniques to deal with dysregulated students 9.Collaborate with counselors and student support staff to develop behavioral interventions for students. 10.Utilize restorative practices as a means to resolve conflict and address behavioral concerns. 11.Collaborate with families to address concerns around academic performance, behavior, and attendance. 12.Provide support for afterschool/extracurricular activities as needed and directed by the Principal. 13.Supervise and evaluate teachers, ensuring adherence to Educator Evaluation timelines. 14.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal. Compensation: 1.25 ratio/10 months 2 weeks Workday: 6:35 a.m. - 2:35 p.m. Reports to: Principal of Champion High School and Principal of Brockton Virtual Learning Academy A resume of the applicant's educational and professional background with specific emphasis given to administration courses and experience should accompany the letter of application. A copy of administrative certification/licensure should also be submitted if not already on file.
