The Post Baccalaureate Research Assistant for the HBCU STEM Undergraduate Success Research Center (STEM US) at Morehouse College will assist with coordinating basic research efforts within the Center. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Research of the HBCU STEM US Center, the Post Baccalaureate Research Assistant will take part in creating literature reviews, the following of research protocols, and organizing data collected. Along with this, the Post Baccalaureate Research Assistant will assist with the STEM US Center's Program for Educating Emerging Researchers (PEER). Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in related scientific or social science field. * Must have an interest to research and willingness to learn new concepts. * External candidates must be capable of being granted tenure within one year of hire. * Must be fully vaccinated and boosted against the COVID-19 virus unless a valid health or religious exemption is verified by Human Resources. Preferred Qualifications * Experience engaging diverse communities of aspiring scientists in scientific, education, research, and/or training activities. * Strong organizational and communication skills. * Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Education/Experience Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Understanding of scientific principles. * General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications. * Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment. * Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. * Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance is essential. * Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work. Physical Demands * Must be able to work in a fast-paced research environment. * Sitting for an extended period required. * Occasional walking, as necessary. * The position may require some travel and occasional participation in off-site functions. * Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components. * Ability to lift 10 pounds.
