Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an International Student Coordinator for the department of Rutgers Global. The International Student Coordinator (ISC) reports to the Senior International Student Adviser of the Rutgers Global - International Student and Scholar Services office. The incumbent works as a member of the student services team to advise and support international students regarding their immigration status and related matters. Among the key duties of this position are the following: * Works as a member of the student services team to advise and support international students regarding their immigration status and related matters. * Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO). Particularly assists with processing SEVIS related applications and requests from students, reviewing, updating and maintaining student records, and issuing immigration documents. * Provides first level advisement at the front office, through one-on-one meetings with students as needed, and through workshops and electronic communication. * Supports senior international student advisers, refers students to them, and consults with them and with supervisor on complex cases. * Directs students to their assigned international student adviser for complex matters. * Participates in special projects involving cross-cultural programming, working with campus partners on matters relating to international students (including but not limited to professional development opportunities and career services). * Participates as a full member of the Center's professional team in developing, administering and evaluating the Center's overall operation and programming. * Collaborates cross functionally with other Global Services offices at Rutgers. * Performs other duties as required. Seniority Unit Terms of Appointment Staff - 12 month Position Pension Eligibility ABP Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience * A bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of student affairs, student advising and programming in a higher education setting as well as strong organizational and time management skills. Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Computer literacy. * Good communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work with multicultural clients, facilitate group presentations, and to navigate various organizational levels. * Customer service, and problem-solving skills. * Meticulous attention to detail - accurate data entry and record-keeping skills. * Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (specifically Word and Excel), some data-based programs, proficiency using the internet as a research tool as well as effective use of social media. * Computer proficiency in virtual platforms such as Zoom and WebEx. * Ability to communicate effectively with students both in-person and via virtual environments. * Interest and commitment to meeting the needs specific to international students. * To qualify for federal agency approval to issue visa eligibility certificates, successful candidate must have U.S. citizenship or permanent residence. Preferred Qualifications * Cross-cultural sensitivity and prior experience living abroad or facility in a second language. * Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, international relations, anthropology, area studies, foreign languages or a related field and experience related to working international students. * Knowledge of one or more foreign languages. * Familiarity with F-1 and/or J-1 regulations and with SEVIS and SEVIS-batch processing software (training will be provided). Physical Demands and Work Environment * May require occasional travel to other Rutgers campuses (RBHS, Newark, or Camden) and some evening and weekend hours for special student events.
