Job Objective: Operates and maintains offshore pedestal crane. May perform mechanic functions and/or general operations tasks. Helps maintain a safe work environment for the company. Essential Job Responsibilities: * Complies with all requirements of API 2D, 6th Edition for a qualified crane operator. * Capable of working at heights to perform daily inspections and maintenance of cranes and crane components. * Capable of handling basic repairs to crane and assisting mechanics in servicing and making repairs. * Completes required daily and weekly pre-use inspections. Confirms that PM work is completed in a timely manner and follow up repairs are completed. * Notifies Supervisor when crane related inspections and maintenance are required, to include rigging gear. * Performs daily pre use and annual inspection and maintenance of rigging gear including maintaining an inventory list of rigging. * Displays understanding of types of rigging gear & lifting techniques for different load types. Capable of developing lifting and rigging plans for basic and complex lifts. * Ability to teach and mentor personnel as riggers. (Safe procedures, types of lifting gear, hand signals, etc.) Assist in crane operator trainee development. * Responsible for working condition of radios for communication with deck personnel and boats. * Capable and willing to assist operations personnel in daily operations as directed by the on board supervisor. * Inspects equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear and makes or recommends appropriate repairs. * Procures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks * Implements company's "Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan" (SPCC), as needed. * Implements and adheres to all company safety policies and procedures and adheres to company's "Good House-Keeping Rules." * Reports leaks or defective valves to maintenance. * Shuts down the machines, following supervisor's instructions, in case of an emergency. * May be required to work multiple fields. * Performs assigned duties as they relate to their position on facilities emergency response team. * Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation. * Supports company vision and mission. * Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings. * May exercise supervision over temporary or contract staff, as assigned. * Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential. * Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed. * Other duties assigned by management. * The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee must repeatedly sit, stand, stoop, speak, listen, occasionally run (in emergency situations), and use hands to finger, handle, feel, seize, grip, hold, reach, turn, and use equipment requiring high dexterity. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to ascend/descend steps, lift and carry boxes and/or tools weighing 50 lbs or less, push and pull a sled (40 lbs. of force), turn valve clockwise and counter-clockwise (50 ft-lbs. force), work overhead tightening and loosening bolts, and lift at least 63 lbs. floor to knuckle. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to effectively use hand tools (adjustable wrenches, end wrenches, pipe wrenches, sockets, pliers), bolts, jumper cables, pumps, motors, valves, utility hoses, gauge lines, etc. * Specific hearing and vision abilities required by this job include good hearing and good near and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. * The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Qualifications: * To improve intra-departmental productivity, employee is expected to develop basic proficiency in and knowledge of the following positions: Other Field Operators Five * (5) Years of experience operating offshore pedestal cranes. * Experience supporting drilling operations. * Experience with loading and unloading vessels. * Knowledge and experience with Cook Inlet tidal and ice conditions. * Ability to perform additional tasks on an offshore oil and gas production platform. * Ability to work established work schedule. * Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties. * Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding how the various parts of the oil/gas facility/plant work together (from the wells through the production facilities to the oil and gas sales lines). * Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon an acquired knowledge of how the facilities function, anticipates and corrects problems before they occur or before other parts of the facility are affected. * Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate the facility unsupervised, while maintaining the facility in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations. * Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees of lower rank and/or experience. * Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis. * Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist at the facility, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem. * Basic mathematic and mechanical skills. * Basic computer skills. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public. * Ability to consider safety in all decisions. * Advancement opportunities within the company are dependent upon employee's professional background and job performance.
