Job Summary A current Oberlin College student is sought for a part-time position at the Allen Memorial Art Museum to aid the Curator of Asian Art in collections research, preparations for upcoming exhibitions, and other duties as assigned. The position is 10 hours/week for the fall semester with the possibility of renewal in the spring. Responsibilities Responsibilities may include any of the following: * General research on the Asian collection, including provenance research * Working with the museum database * Research and label writing for exhibitions * Developing videos on the Asian collection * Social Media * Other projects based on need or student interest Qualifications An interest in the arts and cultures of Asia (West, Central, South, the Himalayas, Southeast, or East Asia), the successful completion of two courses related to art history or Asian studies, and at least 100-level proficiency in an Asian language, is preferred; however, applicants with native fluency in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Urdu, or Hindi but no art history background, will be considered. The applicant must have excellent research and writing skills in English and be detail-oriented, responsible, willing to take initiative, and capable of working independently. Previous museum or gallery experience is a plus but is not required.
