Responsibilities of this position will include the ability to use complex techniques, including CNC machining, to provide high quality models and parts for product, leading edge design evaluations and test fixtures. The ideal candidate shall beself-motivated, work independently requiring minimum supervision while exemplifying a high degree of organization and technical skills. It will be necessary to work with functional Teams dealing directly with Zebra's technical staff, sales marketing, users, customers, and provide guidance to business partners to ensure that the goals and objectives are properly identified and achieved within the appropriate schedule requirements. This position will be on-site in Lincolnshire, IL. You must be able to report to the office 5 days a week. Responsibilities: * Set up, operate, and maintain a 5-axis vertical machining center to create high quality CNC parts utilizing CREO 3D CAD and CAD/CAM software. HAAS Machine is preferred. * Set up, operate, and maintain 3D printers and material inventory to support requests for rapid prototypes. * Able to safely operate common shop machinery, including lathes, mills, brake presses, drills, welders, grinders, CNC machining centers, saws, shears, and hand tools. * Produce parts and fixtures from a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, plastic, and rubber. * Fabricate high quality prototype parts and assemblies working from sketches, 3D CAD files, and 2D drawings. * Assist engineers with designing, fabricating, assembling, and debugging test fixtures. * Inspect parts for compliance to specification utilizing micrometers, calipers, height gages, plug gages, torque gages, feeler gages, thread gages, and microscopes. Experience using a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) or willingness to learn is desirable. * Establish good organization and operation of equipment including preventative maintenance, calibration, cleaning, and compliance with EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) requirements. * Able to work with minimal supervision, develop collaborative working relationships, and communicate effectively with product development engineers. Qualifications: Required: * Associates degree or accredited technical school with preferred emphasis on Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design. * Requires a minimum of 4 to 6 years of prototype model making experience. * Proficient knowledge of mechanical prototyping design techniques and general principles. * Experienced with mechanical prototyping equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. * Requires excellent communication skills and presentation abilities to provide written and verbal reports to management and multi-functional product development teams. * Ability to read and interpret technical plans, MCAD technical drawings, and verbal instructions. * Advanced knowledge of general hand tools, precision instruments usage, and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines. * Experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Power Point are required. * Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required (safety glasses, etc.) Preferred: * Experience with Agile and Web Based tools a plus. Salary: USD 73400.00 - USD 110200.00 Yearly Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
