Job Title ME Student Course Assistant Department Shiley School of Engineering Office Administration Terms and Hours Varying hours; hours worked will be dependent on the time needed to assist faculty, but not to exceed 4 hours per day or 20 hours per week. Job Category Student Employment Hourly Wage Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($15.95) Job Summary This position is for students who will be either: * GRADERS: grading work for selected mechanical engineering courses, or * LAB ASSISTANTS: working in a lab course to support the student learning experience In your cover letter, please list the name of the faculty member and the name of the course with which you are interested in assisting. Core Duties Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Grading: * Support your assigned faculty member with grading of assignments, homework, and exams * Handle student documents with confidentiality and discretion * Communicate with faculty member(s) on grading parameters, requirements, and deadlines * Meet faculty timelines for grading work * Other relevant duties as assigned Lab Assistant: * Support the students during lab periods * Handle student challenges with confidentiality and discretion * Communicate with faculty member(s) on student support needs, issues needing attention * Consistent attendance to provide the support to the Lab students * Other relevant duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications * Applicants must have completed the course they will be grading or assisting with an A or B passing grade. * Student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing.
