About Us The American Clean Power Association (ACP) is the leading voice of today's multi-tech clean energy industry, representing over 800 energy storage, wind, utility-scale solar, green hydrogen and transmission companies. ACP is committed to meeting America's national security, economic and climate goals with fast-growing, low-cost, and reliable domestic power. Position Summary The Vice President, Human Resources is responsible for providing human resources leadership and driving the ACP strategy on culture, performance, and employee experience. The VP is responsible for implementing strategic HR initiatives supporting business growth, organizational transformation, and culture development. The VP must be able to develop a meaningful high-level actionable strategy while ensuring timely implementation. The incumbent must also stay well-connected outwardly to understand emerging trends in the national energy trade association industry, proactively assess and act upon organizational needs, and maintain positive and influential relationships across ACP and partner organizations. The VP will have a dual role as the HR Executive Business Partner while overseeing ACP culture, people operations, talent acquisition, benefits, payroll, compliance, process management, employee services, people analytics and all workplace HR functions. This includes leading and inspiring a high-performing HR team while identifying opportunities for integration into the organization. The VP will strategically partner with leaders within the Executive and Leadership teams and across all ACP departments to optimize processes, drive operational performance, and enhance the overall employee experience. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. * Support the CEO and COO in identifying and instilling the desired high-performing organizational culture and core values and lead efforts to integrate those into operating model and behaviors. * Lead and manage the HR team and coordinate all HR-related work across the organization. Provide active leadership and coaching to a team of HR specialists and business partners on HR issues such as talent acquisition, organizational development, benefits, payroll, performance and learning and development. * Work with the CEO and COO and other executives to develop ACP's resource strategy, promote a business which attracts and retains talent in a competitive environment, and drive recognition and reward strategies for employees. * Identify key performance indicators for HR and talent management functions and assess success and regional market competitiveness based on these metrics. * Stay abreast of regulatory developments and opportunities and ensure these are integrated into all HR practices in a timely and user-friendly manner. * Drive initiatives to boost workforce diversity and inclusion to better access, attract, and retain a broad array of top talent for ACP. Create challenging career development opportunities and a world-class talent acquisition program. Lead the development and succession planning discussions at senior levels across the businesses * Lead effective employee relations strategies which foster effective relationships between the business and its employees, complying with legal frameworks and mitigating risks. * Recommend updates ongoing to improve efficiency and ensure strong cross-organization communication. * Define and implement a robust employee professional development program to foster growth in skills and knowledge that directly translates to improved output across the entire staff team. * Define and implement an action plan to cultivate and sustain a diverse and highly capable pipeline of talent. * Develop and implement a market-competitive compensation philosophy and performance recognition structure that is tailored to best incentivize the ACP team while building a highly functioning workforce within the available budget. * Create and deliver training opportunities for staff on goal setting, performance check in process, compensation, recruiting, and the annual merit and bonus process, to name a few. * Coordinate the annual CEO evaluation process and compensation recommendations with committees and the Board to ensure a competitive package structured to best incent the incumbent. * Conduct annual review of benefit offerings to ensure ACP remains market competitive. * Manage annual HR and quarterly talent acquisition budgets. * Develop and maintain relationships with people leaders across the organization. * Conduct thorough and timely investigations into employee grievances as needed. * Facilitate external coaching engagements with staff. * Develop and maintain relationships with consultants and service providers to gain access to specialized knowledge and networks in a budget-wise fashion. Education, Experience & Skills * Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. Master's degree in relevant field highly preferred. * 15+ years of progressive experience in human resources required including strategy development and deployment, executive leadership advisory, demonstration of HR law and compliance, and impactful leadership ability of both direct teams and organizational influence. * 8+ years leading HR teams with diverse skillsets and practice areas. * Nonprofit and/or trade association experience required, energy industry experience strongly preferred. * SHRM-CP/SCP or the equivalent certification strongly preferred. * Strategic leadership founded on analytical skills and innovative problem-solving. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, and conflict resolution. * Demonstrated ability to facilitate consensus and engender support and buy-in from various stakeholders. Must be able to build support effectively and empathetically for directional change. * Strong organizational skills to manage effectively through competing priorities across the entire organization and drive outcomes to timely completion. * Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations and resources to stay up to date. * Well-versed in and able to leverage best practices and emerging trends including DEI, evolving workforce habits and preferences, and leveraging advancing technology to improve outcomes. * Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems. * Flexibility and ability to work well under pressure. Job Conditions We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas. We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $225,000- 275,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
