The County of Yolo Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Elections Department is recruiting to fill two (2) regular, full-time positions in the class of Senior Appraiser.  The selected candidates will be assigned to the Assessor Branch.   The Positions The Senior Appraisers conduct complex real property assessments; audit real property financial records; develop building cost trends and factors; and train, lead, and review the work of professional and non-professional staff. The incumbents also prepare appeal reports and deliver oral presentations before the local Appeals Board.  The ideal candidates  * are dynamic communicators and collaborators who can prepare and present comprehensive reports as well as recommend sound solutions, especially when applying real and business property laws, regulations and policies. * have leadership, team dynamics, coordination, and team building skills to lead others while accurately and timely complete projects. * possess solid software knowledge including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs. To view the full Senior Appraiser class/job description, please click here. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or a closely related field; AND  Experience: Three (3) years of experience performing property appraisal duties comparable to those of Appraiser III of which two years must have been in an Assessor's Office; AND Appraiser's Certificate: Possession of a valid Advanced Appraiser's Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.  Substitution: Experience in an Assessor's Office performing responsible duties in preparation of the assessment roll, real property appraisal, mortgage lending title work, and/or structural cost estimating may be substituted for two (2) years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.  Experience in real estate sales or transfers will not be considered equivalent to the appraisal and valuation work referred to in this requirement. License Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. The evaluation must include a comparison of comparable U.S. courses for content, credit and grade.  Note: Foreign language documents must include a precise word-for-word English translation of all foreign language documents. It is the responsibility of each applicant to prove to the satisfaction of the County that the applicant meets the specific requirements listed on the job announcement for each specific examination.
