JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management Department (RPTM) in the College of Health and Human Development is seeking an award-winning Documentary Film Director with an MFA in film production and direction. The successful candidate should have several years of experience and success in leading a robust crew in creative and artistic aspects of filmmaking. Candidate must be able to make decisions about the storytelling approach, visual style, and overall narrative structure of the film from beginning to end. Also must have strong interview skills and strong communication skills as well as be comfortable interacting with people of different ages and racial backgrounds. The director must work closely with the team of writers and visionaries behind the project. This team is comprised of researchers and social activists both at The Pennsylvania State University and other universities within the United States and is central to the background, direction and vision of the film. The director must have a strong sense of storytelling to help guide this team and their ideas forward with passion and intent to create a product that not only communicates the story of racial disparities and discriminatory treatment in public spaces but also helps create educational materials and a community outreach toolkit with productive solutions for these longstanding institutional problems. The director must have a passion for social justice issues and telling stories of social, racial and historical importance. They must be available primarily in State College, PA with the ability to frequently travel to Philadelphia and other states. This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
