Learn more about WellPower: Emerson St. for Teens and Young Adults is an innovative, strengths-based, trauma-informed outpatient setting that pairs both clinical therapeutic services and psychiatric rehabilitation (education and employment support). We are a multidisciplinary team that assists youth ages 15-26 in working toward goals that support mental health and overall well-being. Emerson St. runs the first Individual Placement and Support - Youth (IPS-Y) program in the state of Colorado. This IPS-Y Specialist position works with youth individually to help target goals related to work and school. Supported employment tasks include helping youth with resume-building, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, job searching and connecting with employers, follow-along job supports, and lessons learned after a job ends. Supported education tasks include helping youth to succeed in high school or college, switch schools, apply for higher education or technical programs, obtain high school equivalency, secure accommodations, navigate financial aid, and explore college/career options. IPS-Y Specialists assist youth in finding work and school opportunities that are the best fit for the individual's skills, goals and interests using the IPS-Y fidelity model of supported education and employment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Provides one-on-one supported employment and education services using the Individual Placement and Support - Youth (IPS-Y) model to help youth apply for and succeed in work opportunities that align with their interests, skills, and preferences, as well as to engage youth with meaningful educational and academic opportunities. Services will be provided primarily in the community as well as in the office and via telehealth. The average caseload is 20. * Develops and maintains relationships with community employers, including connecting face-to-face with at least six hiring managers per week. Works closely with employers to coach people we serve and provide appropriate interventions to enhance success at work. * Develops and maintains relationships with, and knowledge of, Denver area educational programs such as high schools, colleges, technical programs, GED programs, etc. Works closely with school staff and other academic roles to enhance success of people we serve with their educational goals. * Coordinates with the families and support systems of the people we serve. * Coordinates with a multidisciplinary team including IPS-Y sub team, clinicians, case managers, psychiatrists, and more. * Completes data/reporting pertaining to program measurement including annual fidelity review. Completes documentation and paperwork in the medical record in a timely fashion and in accordance with agency and IPS-Y fidelity standards. * As needed, runs groups at Emerson St. and in the community to promote overall well-being for youth. Topics can include creative expression, life-skills, social engagement, physical health, and more. * Participates in team meetings, staffings, and supervisory sessions as required. * Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: * Vocational Counselor II - Bachelor's degree in psychology, social/human services, psychiatric rehabilitation, education or similar field. * Vocational Counselor III - Master's degree in psychology, social/human services, psychiatric rehabilitation, education or similar field. EXPERIENCE: * Experience working with teens and young adults strongly preferred. * Some experience in mental health, social services, or human services preferred. * Experience with psychiatric rehabilitation (supported employment or supported education) preferred. * Must be able to commute throughout the metro area; valid driver's license and access to a vehicle preferred, with clean driving record. Ability to transport people we serve is strongly preferred. If driving people we serve, ability to obtain and carry Business Use coverage on your auto policy (additional cost is reimbursed). SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: * Ability to work independently and manage own schedule. * Strong work ethic and takes initiative. * Passion for working with teens and young adults. * Recognizes the importance of work and school for recovery. * Proficiency and knowledge of computer technology and resources. * Knowledge of, or ability to build knowledge of, community employers in and around Denver, as well as local schools and educational institutions/resources. * Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. * Good time-management and follow-through for completion of tasks, including timely documentation in the electronic medical record. * Must have a clear understanding of HIPAA, confidentiality, and personal boundaries. * Ability to build rapport and support young people with serious mental health challenges and trauma through trauma-informed and person-centered work. * Ability to approach hiring managers in the community to build rapport and ongoing relationships, learn about their hiring needs, and connect job seekers with appropriate employment opportunities. * Knowledge of, or ability to build knowledge of, Psychiatric Rehabilitation philosophy and principles. MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: WellPower fleet vehicle/own vehicle, computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment. PHYSICAL REQIUREMENTS: Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach, drive, operate standard office equipment such as phone, computer, facsimile, copier/printer, and other business machines.
