The Role: Reporting to the director of web services, the full stack programmer will be responsible for front and back-end programming, testing, supporting, and maintaining code for CWU's public websites. New ideas and ability to assist with other design and development functions will be encouraged. The position also provides end user consultation, training, documentation, and guidance, and monitors websites and web applications for quality, reliability, performance and accessibility standards making adjustments as necessary. This position provides the potential to mentor and train students who will serve diverse populations. Job Duties Programming: * Programs/develops web-based applications and business solutions using various programming languages including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, Ajax, HTML5 and other related technologies/languages. * Front and back-end programming. * Testing and remediating custom code. * Crating new front-end templates from static designs and modifying existing ones. * Program back-end dynamic content elements (or modify existing ones) within Cascade CMS, allowing non-technical content managers to update the site without modifying code. * Modify and program data queries to connect the databases, and backend content with front-end components. * Write custom scripts or integrate third-party services using Cascade CMS's API to enhance functionality and fit organizational needs. * Directly interact with databases for complex data operations and integrate Cascade CMS with other systems like CRM tools and analytics software. * Implement caching strategies and optimize the site for performance on various devices, particularly for mobile responsiveness within Cascade CMS. * Utilize Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices to streamline testing and deployment. Documentation and Web Optimization: * Assists with technical audits of web pages to remediate Accessibility and Search Engine Optimization issues. * Implement accessibility features in compliance with standards such as WCAG to ensure all users can navigate the site effectively. * Tests website and web application performance and functionality, performs quality assurance checks, and fixes bugs accordingly. * Maintains a current understanding common web technologies and programming practices through continuing education, reading or participation in professional conferences, workshops or groups. Consult with Internal Clients: * Consults with stakeholders, and/or web administrators from a variety of backgrounds and technical expertise to review existing websites/webpages and develops new functionality and/or codes necessary web changes. Other Duties: * Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in computer science, web design, website programming or related field, or three years of experience in a web development role. * Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and with open-source environments (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, or "LAMP") * Intermediate to advanced experience designing User Interfaces (UI) and developing them into functional, responsive, and accessible websites. * Experience in a version control environment using Git. * Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences. * OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with any of the following: Cascade Server CMS, XML/XSLT, REST APIs, SQL, CMS software (Velocity or Cascade), SEO Best Practices, and responsive design. * Ability to work on common JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue. * Expert understanding of Content Management Systems CraftCMS and CascadeCMS. * Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into everyday conversations. * Potential to mentor students who will serve diverse populations. This may be the job for you! Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary: This position has a minimum annual salary of $59,068 and maximum annual salary of $85,648. The Hiring Department's expected hiring range is $59,068 - $72,358. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
