We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Materials Engineer to join our R&D team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in material science and engineering, particularly in relation to medical device applications. This role requires a deep understanding of the properties, processing, and performance of materials used in medical devices, including metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. Key Responsibilities: * Lead the selection and evaluation of materials for new and existing medical devices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and biocompatibility requirements. * Develop and optimize material specifications, processing methods, and manufacturing techniques to improve product performance and reliability. * Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations to address material-related issues in medical devices. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory, to drive material-related aspects of product development and improvement projects. * Stay current with advancements in material science and technology, and apply this knowledge to innovate and enhance our product offerings. * Manage and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. * Prepare technical documentation, including material specifications, test protocols, and reports to support regulatory submissions and product validation. * Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and other technical evaluations to ensure material-related risks are identified and mitigated. * Establish and maintain relationships with material suppliers and research institutions to leverage external expertise and resources. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. * A minimum of 8 years of experience in materials engineering, with at least 5 years in the medical device industry. * Proven expertise in the selection, processing, and performance evaluation of materials used in medical devices. * In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to medical device materials, such as ISO 10993 and ASTM standards. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations. * Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. * Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. * Proficiency in material characterization techniques, such as spectroscopy, microscopy, and mechanical testing. * Experience with additive manufacturing and advanced material processing technologies is a plus.
