Flight Attendant:
It really is such a fun job and you can choose how much you fly, how much you work, where you go. I've been flying for 10 years so my seniority is high up there. The airline industry is all about seniority.
Early Career Tip:
Find an airline that you want to be with forever because at 10 years in if I change airlines, I go back to zero. I lose all that seniority, all that pay, everything and I go back to zero.
Flight Attendant Salary:
You get paid monthly and you get paid hourly. So it all depends on how much you're flying and how many years you've been there. The first couple years you're not making a ton of money because you're on call so you can't choose your schedule, you can't choose how many hours you're flying.
Perks of Flexibility:
With my airline, I only have to work a certain amount of hours in the year to make sure I get my benefits and whatnot. So I can drop down to zero hours. The flexibility of being able to drop to zero hours is amazing. My friends and I travel all the time. One year we went to 13 different countries and that was not while working. That was all for fun. I can live wherever I want as long as I commute and make it to base before my check in.
Another Tip for Beginners:
Find an airline that has a base where you live or want to live because commuting when you're on call, when you're on reserve is a little taxing.
