Job Description Doyon / Aramark Joint Venture is seeking Native Alaskans for the role of Interpretive Guide that will act as a personal interpreter of cultural, historical, natural resources, and support to guests on a guided tour of Denali National Park & Preserve. About Denali National Park & Preserve and Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture: Summer days in Alaska stretch nearly endlessly, with up to 20 hours of daylight on the Summer Solstice. Spanning 6.2 million acres, Denali National Park & Preserve is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and attracts over half a million visitors annually. Conveniently accessible by road-4.5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. Doyon Limited and Aramark have teamed up in a Joint Venture as the Denali National Park & Preserve's Concessionaire. Open May to September, our operation manages the transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions with our client; The National Park Service. By road, our 100 Blue Bird Bus Fleet takes guests past the 15-mile public access point daily during summer months, allowing people to hike, view wildlife, climb, and camp where few people have set foot. Job Responsibilities * Guides will be responsible for educating self on the local ecology, geology, history and culture to be well-prepared to provide information and answer guests questions. * Ability to provide interpretation in a variety of settings: walking tour, via motorcoach, private family groups in family-style vehicle, or to seated guests via multi-media presentation. * Ability to choreograph your tour to educate and engage visitors of all ages and cultures. * Ensures security of company assets and a safe work environment through daily maintenance and housekeeping * Works in conditions that involve exposure to unusual elements and extreme temperatures * Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc. * Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager * Employee is responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Qualifications * Sit, stand and walk for varied amounts of time * Basic Math Skills * Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written * Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs. * Must be available to work flexible hours * Native Alaskan This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
